Welcome to the getting-started section of MiddleAge.org. And I truly mean “Welcome!”.
You see, I really like working with people and seeing how excited and happy they get when their lives get a lot better, and I truly know that your life will get a lot better if you utilize the methods on this Website.
I have to tell you that this getting-started section of the Website has been one of the trickiest ones for me to work with. The reason is that I have no idea what kind of person will be reading it. If you’re on the site you’re likely a guy or gal in your middle age, but that’s about the only qualifier.
What I don’t know is how open and flexible your mind is. Some people have a set idea of what they believe works and what doesn’t, and that’s where they want to stay.
At the other end of the spectrum, there are men and women that love adventure and have really-open minds, and are eager to give new things to try to see if they will work and make their lives better.
This Website has two different sections in a way. One is fairly traditional, covering topics like fitness and weightloss. Although some of the ideas in those sections are not traditional, most of the content is pretty straightforward. So this section can benefit almost everyone.
But there are other sections of the site that covers topics a lot of people don’t think about, although some do. Things like asking yourself if you have limiting beliefs about yourself and the world and if they are holding you back.
This site covers goal-setting, and how that can make your life so much better. It covers happiness too: what is happiness? Do we become happy sort of by accident, or is there a plan to follow to be happy?
So, do you want to spend the rest of your life like this?
Or like this?
You see, you could be perfectly fit and have a miserable life. You could have the perfect diet and be unhappy. You could have tons of money, and be miserable. You may know some men or women who are in one of these categories.
So go ahead and check out the fitness and weightloss sections of this site. I sincerely believe you’ll get a lot of benefit from them.
But if you want more out of life than ”just getting by”, if you want to make the decision that now is the time to re-examine and optimize your life, if you want to truly “Make the rest of your life the BEST of your life”, then I suggest you go through this site in the order in which the sections are presented at the bottom of the home page.
Begin at the top left (Start Here, where you’re at now), go through Unlimiting Beliefs, Lasting Happiness, drop down to the next line, learn about Achieving Goals, and so forth.
You may find information there that is frankly a bit scary. To learn that most of your beliefs about yourself, the world, and what you can achieve have been programmed into your mind without your knowledge or agreement is pretty scary!
The good news, however, is that you can examine your beliefs, determine which ones are false and holding you back, and basically reprogram yourself for happiness.
So in the end, it’s really up to you. You can just do fitness and weightloss and settle for a hot dog.
Or explore everything on this Website and enjoy a huge banquet with many, many dishes to choose from and enjoy.
The choice is really up to you.
Some things you may love right away, some you may love after trying them out for a bit, and some you may not like at this time.
I encourage you to eventually give all of them a chance. Try new things; that’s part of growth.
And if you don’t like something right now, come back later when you’ve grown with some of the other practices and try again, as the banquet is always open to everyone and at any time.
In addition, I want to stress that this isn’t all or nothing. This is not the basis for stress and a guilt-trip. This isn’t “You’re bad if you don’t do this all the way”.
This is about the excitement of the possibility of having more energy, more happiness, more aliveness. Congratulate yourself for your accomplishments, even small ones.
If you haven’t been doing any exercise, and now you’re walking for 20 minutes once a week, be proud of that, and have the intention to increase it to 30 minutes next week or next month.
Try the things first that you feel comfortable with, and then once you have them working well, expand into areas that seem interesting and worth some exploration.
I truly hope that everyone will achieve substantial happiness from this website.
